Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. has provided me with a space full of supportive and encouraging women, who are all rooted in their culture. They have taught me the importance of leadership grounded in unity, advocacy led by empathy, and the importance of breaking barriers for women, in spaces where they may have not had a seat at the table. Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. gave me a home at ASU, a home that I will never forget.

Navigating ASU’s Graduate School was a completely different experience than my undergraduate. My biggest support system became my sisters. It truly proved to me that this is a sisterhood for life and goes beyond graduation. Thank you sisters for providing me with so much love, motivation, and endless inspiration. To my lineage, thank you for being the reason I ever believed I was capable of this. SLG gave me my best friends, my soulmates in shape of sisters I never had. It constantly reminds me to be a woman of distinction, leaving every place better than how I found it.

Where to begin. As a senior, I thought I was too late to join such an amazing sisterhood but, these wonderful, beautiful women taught me that nothing is impossible. As a senior, I had the privilege and honor of carrying the letters of Sigma Lambda Gamma and with it, our principles. Principles I want to fulfill everyday as I expose myself to a world unknown to me and many first generation students. In my final year, I was surrounded by powerful women that celebrated my successes and reassured my failures and for that, I owe them everything. The many lessons I learned are never ending but one I will always carry with me is: Culture is Pride, Pride is Success. Although this is the end of my undergraduate journey, it is not the end of me being a sister of SLG. Hermanas Por Vida, Thank you for being my sister<3
